Great Missenden Overland Festival 2015

The Overland Event is a truly great weekend for anyone who loves motorcycle travel. This year it offered the chance to chat with experienced travellers, browse the latest travel gear, listen to guest speakers and a surprise proposal!

Tom and I set off to the festival early on Saturday morning feeling a little jaded from the night before. On route we decided to stop off for a full english breakfast, with satisfied bellies we headed on to Great Missenden! Once we arrived at the quaint town it dawned on us we were unsure on the exact location for the festival, at the first junction we reached we decided to turn right… this was a fateful mistake!

The steep downhill roads were wet and our BMW GS was fully loaded not only with our combined weight but with our weekend luggage. As break lights came on ahead we sailed straight into the back off a rather fancy Mercedes. At this point I assumed the weekend was perhaps not going to be as successful as we had hoped, luckily I was wrong!

Relieved to find the festival we quickly pitched our tent as there were some ominous dark clouds heading in our direction. Tent pitched, time for a drink I thought! As I climbed out of the tent I was extremely surprised to find Tom down on one Knee holding a beautiful sparkling ring. “Will you marry me?”, he asked.  With absolute certainty I replied “Yes!”.
